Scott Brown is desperate to see Celtic keep Mikael Lustig.

Scott Brown has told BBC Sport he is hoping that the ‘phenomenal’ Mikael Lustig does a u-turn and agrees a new contract with Celtic.
Lustig will be a free agent at the end of this month and according to The Daily Record, is close to joining Belgian side Gent.
The 32-year-old, who has won 16 major trophies in seven years with Celtic, hinted on Instagram last week that he was leaving by uploading a highlight reel of his best bits in Glasgow.
Brown and his Swedish team-mate – signed by Neil Lennon during the Northern Irishman’s first stint in charge – have been in the trenches together since 2012 and shared a lot of victories, and the Hoops captain is desperate to see him at the club next term and beyond.
He told BBC Sport: “Lustig has been phenomenal. The club and Mikael are still talking just now, so hopefully they can come to some sort of agreement.
“We all love him in the dressing-room. The fans love him as well. Last season was the best football that I’ve seen him play, he’s just kicked on, he’s still playing for Sweden, he’s still got that hunger in his belly that he wants to thrive and win more trophies.”
It’d be interesting to know whether Brown’s quote about Lustig still talking to the club’s hierarchy about a new deal came after or before the news about him having a medical with Gent.
Either way, it seems unlikely that the former Rosenborg right-back – who earns £24,000 per week with the Bhoys [Daily Star] – will be staying at Celtic beyond this month.
