Steven Gerrard has lost his job at Aston Villa, and now, the hunt is on for his replacement.
The likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Ruben Amorim have been linked, but perhaps the most intriguing rumour thus far has been surrounding Marcelo Bielsa.
Indeed, Ben Jacobs has claimed that Bielsa is a manager who we should be keeping an eye on in this race, and it sounds as though he is a name under consideration by Villa.
It remains to be seen whether or not Bielsa does get the job, but if he does, Gerrard may well be left impressed by his successor.
Indeed, the former Villa boss has been very honest about being a fan of Bielsa in the past, claiming that he’s a world class manager, describing him as ‘phenomenal’ in the process.

Gerrard loves Bielsa
The former Rangers gaffer gave his view on Bielsa back in February ahead of Leeds’ game at Villa Park when Bielsa was in charge.
“I’ve always enjoyed watching Leeds,” Gerrard said.
“I think they’re a very exciting team.
“They take it to every opponent and they’ve got a world class manager who’s done a phenomenal job from where he took over to where he’s got them to now.”
Exciting
Aston Villa appointing Marcelo Bielsa would be exciting if nothing else.
Indeed, the Argentine plays such a high-octane brand of football it’s impossible not to be impressed by his style, and, to be honest, the Premier League has missed him over these past few months.
There really isn’t anyone else quite like Bielsa, and while hiring the Argentine doesn’t guarantee success, it certainly brings about a lot of excitement and football that is fun to watch.
Villa fans have been complaining about a lack of substance as well as a lack of results and hiring Bielsa would fix at least one of those issues.
