Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has been voted the PFA Fans’ Championship player of the Month for October.
The 26-year-old beat Sheffield Wednesday’s Gary Hooper, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Sam Baldock, Cardiff City’s Peter Whittingam, QPR’s Massimo Luongo and Preston North End’s Paul Gallagher to the award, with his efforts helping Newcastle to the top of the Championship.
Gayle played a key role in the Magpies’ perfect month, which saw them win all five of their games as they opened up a three point lead at the top of the division.
