Sam Allardyce has criticised Everton forward Richarlison on talkSPORT (7:42am, December 13, 2021) for his conduct against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Everton suffered a 3-1 defeat to Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Sunday.

Richarlison started the match for Rafael Benitez’s Everton and was leading the line.

Benitez decided to take off the £35 million Brazil international forward (BBC Sport) in the 58th minute.

As reported by Sky Sports, Richarlison looked ‘hugely frustrated’ to be taken off by Everton boss Benitez.

Everton fans booed the decision, although Benitez subsequently said that the 24-year-old picked up a calf injury.

Sam Allardyce on Everton forward Richarlison

Former Everton manager Allardyce has slammed Richarlison for his reaction to being substituted.

Allardyce said: “When you see Richarlison doing what he is doing, it’s not the best thing you want as a manager, what he has done, shaking his head.

“You look at that situation and the last thing Rafa needs at the moment is individuals showing petulance.”

No big deal

In our opinion, Everton forward Richarlison’s reaction to being substituted is no big deal.

Now, of course, you do not want players to always publicly show their disapproval of their manager’s decision.

However, on this occasion, we can understand Richarlison’s reaction.

The Brazilian wanted to carry on playing, and that tells volume about him.

Richarlison has scored three goals and provided two assists in 10 Premier League starts for Everton so far this season.
