Scougall’s Sheffield United contract officially runs until the end of the month, but will Peterborough United be the Scot’s next club?
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has responded to being asked about a move for former Sheffield United midfielder Stefan Scougall.
Scougall was one of several players culled at the start of last month after Sheffield United’s promotion as League One champions.
The Scot had been brought to Bramall Lane by former boss Nigel Clough in January 2014, but fell out of favour under recent managers Nigel Adkins and Chris Wilder.

Nevertheless, Scougall managed an impressive four league goals from six starts and 19 substitute appearances this past campaign, as Sheffield United ended their six-year Championship exile.
But according to MacAnthony, the 24-year-old will not be plying his trade at London Road this coming season.
When asked if Peterborough had approached Scougall with an offer, the Irishman replied, categorically:
Scougall was also linked with a move to St Johnstone last month [Scottish Sun], and is said to have attended the Perth side’s 1-0 win over Partick Thistle, which sealed their place in next season’s Europa League qualifying rounds.
However, it remains to be seen whether a deal is in place to sign the former Livingston player.
Where could Scougall end up after leaving Sheffield United?
