Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Oxford United striker Kemar Roofe.
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has suggested that Leeds United should be offering no more than £1.5 million for Oxford United striker Kemar Roofe.
The young striker is reportedly (Yorkshire Evening Post) on Garry Monk’s wishlist, as he looks to strengthen his Leeds squad.
The Whites want to bolster their options up front, but Oxford are said to be asking for £3 million for Roofe.
Leeds have reportedly deemed that price to be too expensive, and MacAnthony has suggested that price would be over inflated.
MacAnthony is famed for being a top negotiator, as Peterborough have sold a number of players for big money in recent times.
The likes of Conor Washington, Dwight Gayle and Craig Mackail-Smith have all left Posh for sizeable fees in recent years.
It remains to be seen whether Leeds can still strike up a deal for Roofe, despite Oxford’s high initial asking price.
Roofe scored 26 goals in all competitions for Oxford last season, and he won the League Two Player of the Season award.
