The Spurs youngster has impressed on loan at the League One club.

Peterborough United boss Grant McCann has admitted he would like to keep hold of Tottenham Hotspur loanee Luke McGee beyond his current loan spell at the club – and even beyond the end of the season.

Spurs loaned out the 21-year-old talent to London Road on a deal until January and he has impressed since making the move.

McGee’s performances have certainly seen the Posh manager McCann take notice. He admitted to BBC Sport today that he would like to keep McGee beyond January and even sign him permanently:

“We’d love him here until beyond, never mind the end of the season and to be one of our players.”

However, he did admit it seemed unlikely Tottenham would be willing to sell him at this point in time:

“But Tottenham think highly of him – he’s been on the bench for their first team in the Premier League.”

McCann went on to praise the performances of the player, not only in matches but also in training:

“He’s been first-class since he’s come in. Not just his performances on the pitch but his whole demeanour around the building.

“He’s a young lad but he’s come in with a 27, 28-year-old’s shoulders on him. He demands of people in training, if you don’t track a runner he’s out of his goal shouting at you.

“It’s exactly what you need from your goalkeeper. With his ability as well, you’ve got somebody special.”

Tottenham fans know the talent McGee has and the youngster is also a very popular member of the first-team set-up at White Hart Lane.

He was handed a new contract at Spurs 12 months ago which runs until 2019 and with Michel Vorm in his 30s and Hugo Lloris hitting that milestone in December McGee may well be seen as a hope for the future.

But Spurs should certainly consider keeping him on loan at the League One side until the rest of the season in order for him to get first-team experience and hopefully progress at Hotspur Way.
