Posh winger Maddison was a Leeds United target in 2016.

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has advocated another Leeds United move for Marcus Maddison.
Former Leeds boss Steve Evans claimed recently that Leeds should have signed the Posh winger in January 2016, but Whites owner Massimo Cellino ‘messed about at a key time’ (Football League Paper).
Maddison has continued to impress since then, scoring nine goals and creating 17 in this season’s League One campaign – an impressive feat given that only one Peterborough forward reached double figures for league strikes.
However, with the 23-year-old’s contract set to expire next summer, he has found himself transfer listed along with six others in identical situations.

And when asked if he’d be tempted to make a move for Maddison if he were at Leeds, MacAnthony replied:
Id always buy exciting young English talent if at Leeds… the large fanbase would propel them to great heights.. So yep for sure.. https://t.co/g3ivLbBcKI

MacAnthony had earlier suggested Maddison would be a ‘top asset for any promotion-chasing Championship club next year’, which is sure to include Leeds.

The Whites, who narrowly missed out on a play-off place this term, are not expected to re-sign loan winger Modou Barrow this summer and it remains to be seen whether fellow widemen Hadi Sacko and Alfonso Pedraza will return to Elland Road at the end of their temporary spells.
