Sunderland will reportedly pounce after League One rivals Portsmouth saw a £500k deal for Plymouth Argyle’s striker collapse.

Outspoken Peterborough United chairman had good news and bad news for Sunderland over the weekend.
On one hand, Darragh MacAnthony took to Twitter to make it clear that Peterborough star Marcus Maddison, a boyhood Mackem fanatic who is linked with a move to Sunderland almost every transfer window, will not be making a dream switch to the Stadium of Light any time soon.
But MacAnthony had potentially far more positive news for the Wearside giants when asked about a potential move for Plymouth Argyle striker Freddie Ladapo.
The Northern Echo reported last week that the former Crystal Palace striker is on his way out of Home Park after scoring 18 goals last season, a tally that still failed to keep the so-called Green Army from being bombed out of League One.

Sunderland are expected to make a move for Ladapo after his £500,000 move to rivals Portsmouth fell through due to financial reasons.
And MacAnthony has made it clear that Jack Ross’s side won’t face any competition from the club down at London Road either.
On paper, Ladapo looks like the answer to Sunderland’s prayers.
He is a player capable of scoring goals for fun in a struggling League One side, just imagine how productive he could be alongside Aiden McGeady, Lynden Gooch and co.
