Jordan Pickford has impressed since being given a chance in the Premier League, earning a move to Everton in the summer.

Peter Shilton has told the Daily Mail that Everton’s Jordan Pickford has shown enough to earn a chance in the England side once he is fully fit – and suggested that he sees some of himself in the 23-year-old.
Pickford has taken little time to establish himself as one of the most impressive goalkeepers in the Premier League, stamping his authority on the number one jersey at Sunderland last season before earning a £30 million switch to Goodison Park in the summer, as reported by the Daily Mail.

And he has started life with the Toffees very brightly also, keeping clean sheets in three of his first six competitive games for the club.
And Shilton explained why he has been so impressed with the 23-year-old and outlined what the youngster does that reminds the 67-year-old of what he used to do during his illustrious career.

“I see something of myself in Pickford, in particular the way he directs from the back. I always felt it helps to be vocal. You are in a position to see the picture in front of you and I see him shouting and calling and generally looking in charge,” he told the Mail.
“He has confidence and agility, a developing technique, and I think he is ready to take that step up and hopefully prove me right. I like what I see.”
Everton fans will certainly be hoping that Pickford begins to develop his attributes to a level that persuades more and more people to draw comparisons between himself and England’s most capped player of all-time.
While it is too soon to suggest that he can get to that level, the way he has adapted so quickly to the first-team, both at Sunderland and now with Everton, suggests that he could be a quick learner and could have the potential to significantly improve in the coming years.
