Peter Schmeichel told CBS’s Champions League coverage (16/02/21 at 10:25 pm) that Jordan Henderson was ‘very impressive’ for Liverpool during their 2-0 win against RB Leipzig in the Champions League last night.
It’s one step closer to the next round for Jurgen Klopp’s men, who ensured they came away with an advantage and a clean during this potentially tricky first-leg encounter.
Once again, Klopp opted to play Henderson at the back alongside January recruit Ozan Kabak despite that collapse against Leicester City last Saturday.
But there were no signs of those previous troubles hurting them again, as Manchester United great Schmeichel shared his thoughts on Henderson’s performance after watching the £20 million signing in Budapest last night.
“There were two really good performances for me, tonight,” said Schmeichel. “One was Jordan Henderson at centre-back.
“It’s the first time I have seen him live, not off the television and playing in that position.
“To transfer from midfield and being the engine in this Liverpool team, and then put so much pressure from a midfield position into a position where you have to control and contain yourself. That was very impressive. He played very well.”

Klopp can now turn his attention to Premier League matters and trying to claw their way back up a league that has battered them in recent weeks.
Whilst Liverpool will take some much-needed confidence and a boost from yesterday’s result, they cannot afford for their problems in the league to continue against Everton on Saturday.
This is an Everton side pushing for those Champions League places, and with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm, they have a great chance of finally adding a win to their name at Anfield.
