Marco Silva’s Everton held neighbours Liverpool to a goalless draw on Sunday afternoon.

After Liverpool’s game against Everton on Sunday afternoon, Virgil van Dijk stated that ‘it says a lot’ that their rivals celebrated the goalless draw in the Merseyside derby.
It is fair to say that his comments didn’t go unnoticed, with former Toffees midfielder Peter Reid issuing this brutal and hilarious response to the centre-back on his personal Twitter account.
In regards to the ‘World Cup final’ comments, Reid is referring to the exchange between Jurgen Klopp and Marco Silva before the Merseyside encounter took place at Goodison Park.
Klopp claimed that the derby match, which was going to have a huge significance on Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge, was like a ‘World Cup final’ for their neighbours, as quoted by Sky Sports.
During the reverse fixture, the Reds scored a stoppage-time winner to clinch all three points as Klopp celebrated by running onto the field and hugging goalkeeper Alisson.
In his response, Silva mentioned that match and claimed that he was the one who celebrated like they won the World Cup final, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Either way, it added extra spice to the fixture as Liverpool ended up dropping valuable points in the title race as they are now one point behind leaders Manchester City in the table.
It was a hostile atmosphere throughout, with the away team creating the best opportunities and star man Mo Salah missing countless efforts to put his team ahead.
