Glasgow Rangers began their Scottish Premiership campaign with a narrow win at Motherwell, and Ibrox hero Peter Lovenkrands has commented on the win.
Peter Lovenkrands has suggested to the Evening Times that Rangers should not dwell too much on the quality of the performance from their opening day victory over Motherwell, and should instead simply be content with the three points.
Pedro Caixinha’s men endured a mixed pre-season, going from the desperate low of losing their Europa League qualifier to finishing on a much more positive note with victories over the likes of Watford and Sheffield Wednesday, while also securing a draw against Marseille.

So, there was understandably plenty of intrigue heading into the curtain-raiser against Well. And the Gers responded by securing a 2-1 win thanks to a brace from debutant Graham Dorrans.
And while the Light Blues may not have always put in the most convincing display during the victory, Lovenkrands insisted that Caixinha should not be too disappointed with the performance simply due to the fact that they came away with the win.
“I didn’t really care about the performance, it was all about the three points,” he told the Evening Times.
“Fir Park is a horrible place to go. The pitch looked good but with the slope on it, it is difficult and the foreign boys would have been like ‘what is going on here?’ when they walked out.
“It is a tough place to go and to come away with three points on the first day of the season is all that matters.

“There was some great football in between, I thought first half we were very good.”
In fairness to the Gers, the Portuguese undertook a major overhaul of his squad over the summer, so it would have probably been a greater surprise if it all clicked and they strolled to an emphatic win.
If they can continue to pick up wins while they continue to gel as a side – even if some of their performances in that time are somewhat underwhelming – then they will surely be in a tremendous position to kick on once the chemistry is there.
