Ibrox favourite Peter Lovenkrands has commented on Rangers’ win over Motherwell.

Rangers kicked off their league campaign with a 2-1 away victory over Motherwell, with new signing Graham Dorrans bagging two goals at Fir Park.

The Gers had enjoyed a string of fine pre-season results after the embarrassing Europa League defeat to Progres Niederkorn, and they built on that with a good win at Motherwell.

Rangers Manager Pedro Caixinha during the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round match between Rangers and Progres Niederkorn at the Ibrox Stadium on June 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers got off to a quick start at Fir Park, as Bruno Alves’ cross was knocked down by Kenny Miller, and Graham Dorrans smashed the ball home to give the Gers the lead inside the opening four minutes.

Pedro Caixinha’s men were pegged back before the break though, as some slack defending from a Motherwell set piece allowed Ben Heneghan in to score, directing a diving header past Wes Foderingham for the equaliser.

However, Rangers did claim their win though, as Fabio Cardoso was elbowed by Louis Moult for a penalty, and boyhood Gers fan Dorrans stepped up to convert for a brace.

Rangers held on for the victory and give Caixinha a strong start to the league campaign, with Rangers responding well to Celtic’s demolition of Hearts on Saturday afternoon.

After the final whistle, ex-Rangers winger Peter Lovenkrands took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the game, celebrating the three points before immediately looking ahead to the midweek Scottish League Cup clash with Dunfermline.
