Rangers coach Peter Lovenkrands was thrilled to see the under-20s record a huge 6-1 win.

The win was in the Glasgow Cup away to Partick Thistle. Dapo Mebude (2), Liam Burt (2), Andy Dallas and Stephen Kelly scored the goals.

Lovenkrands picked out a player who was not on the scoresheet for praise.

The former Rangers attacker named Jordan Houston alongside the scorers, labelling the midfielder ‘brilliant’.

Houston provided two assists in the win, with his driving runs from midfield leading to goals from Burt and Kelly.

Rangers’ academy appears to be packed with talent right now and it gives first team manager Steven Gerrard more options.

Glenn Middleton has already made the step up and has become a regular, while Serge Atakayi made a breakthrough earlier this month before picking up an injury.

Their success provides even more inspiration for the under-20s to keep up their high standards.
