Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers could have more Billy Gilmours on their hands soon, says Peter Lovenkrands.
Peter Lovenkrands has claimed to The Scottish Sun that Rangers have more gems like Billy Gilmour in the pipeline.
The 17-year-old midfielder looks to be going from strength to strength since quitting Rangers last summer.
Gilmour, who began his career with the Gers, signed his first professional contract at Chelsea earlier this week, having joined the West Londoners after rejecting the chance to stay at Ibrox.
Such a rejection was met with disappointment by the Scottish Premiership club, given his undoubted talent and potential.
But Rangers’ academy coach Lovenkrands has told The Scottish Sun that he can “definitely” see the Glasgow club producing similar prospects shortly.
He said: “I can definitely see other Billy Gilmours coming through. In the 15s, 16s and 17s there are some top-drawer players with huge potential.
“If they keep applying themselves and listening to the coaches then who knows how far they can go.
“It is up to myself and the other coaches to keep improving them and getting them up to the highest level possible.
“Some of the results we got last season were incredible. I don’t see why a number of these boys can’t make it into the first team.”
Rangers fans saw two very promising young players in Friday night’s 6-0 demolition of Bury at Ibrox, with Glenn Middleton and Zak Rudden – who scored the hosts’ sixth goal – impressing.
Middleton only joined the Blues from Norwich City in January, but 18-year-old Rudden is an academy graduate and although he might not be as promising as Gilmour, the signs that he could eventually become an established first-team player look very good.
