Former Ibrox star Peter Lovenkrands has told The Scottish Sun that Steven Gerrard’s Rangers will win the title ahead of Neil Lennon’s Celtic.

Celtic have started to win matches, but former Rangers ace Lovenkrands does not think that it will be enough for the Hoops to catch the Gers.

The former Denmark international believes that Rangers have pretty much secured the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Lovenkrands told The Scottish Sun: “Celtic can keep plugging away and get into a good bit of form. They are creating chances and scoring goals again and need to try and put the pressure on Rangers.

“But the league’s done, Rangers will win it, all Celtic can do is put pressure on. They have still got Old Firm games to come and you never know what’s going to happen.”

Can Celtic catch Rangers?

Rangers are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 76 points from 28 matches.

Celtic, who have won the league title in Scotland for the past nine seasons, have picked up 55 points from 26 games.

The Hoops have won their last two league games, and there are signs that the team are recovering.

However, it does seem too late for Celtic to close the gap between Rangers and themselves.

The Gers have been very consistent this season and have yet to lose a game in the league.

Of course, there is always a chance that Rangers could drop points or go through a bad spell, but it is hard to see the Ibrox club suffer a dramatic collapse in the final months of the season.
