Jordan Jones will join Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2019.
Peter Leven has suggested to The Scottish Sun that Jordan Jones can earn a bigger move after Rangers.
Jones has signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers and will join Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club in the summer of 2019.
The 24-year-old winger is on the books of Kilmarnock at the moment and is having a good season on a personal level.
Leven worked with Jones at Kilmarnock, and the Scottish coach – who was on the books of Rangers from 2000 until 2004 and at Kilmarnock from 2004 until 2007 – believes that the winger can use Rangers as a stepping stone to move to a bigger club.
Leven told The Scottish Sun about Jones: “If Jordan adds goals and a bit more end product to his game, I think he’s got another big move in him.
“I texted him the other day and said: ‘Well done, you’ve worked hard to get here, but you’ve got to work harder to stay there and go on again’. There’s no point getting the slippers out and relaxing, don’t throw it away.
“I’ve seen players come in and put the tools away. But at a big club like Rangers they will swallow you up if you don’t perform. It’s a mentality thing.”
Succeeding at Rangers
Rangers and Celtic are the two biggest clubs in Scotland, and Jones certainly has the potential to be a success at the Gers.
If Jones were to leave for a bigger club in the future, then it will be out of Scotland and probably to England.
As for now, the winger should do his best to finish the season on a high note and then establish himself in Gerrard’s first team at Rangers.
