The Hungarian never got a chance at Anfield, but is shining at RB Leipzig.
Peter Gulacsi of RB Leipzig in action
Liverpool fans have become increasingly frustrated at their failures in the goalkeeping department. Simon Mignolet has never been a universally popular figure at Anfield and his supposed replacement Loris Karius does not look up to the standard necessary. Meanwhile the Manchester clubs have the brilliant Ederson and David De Gea whilst Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea have the consistent form of Hugo Lloris, Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois to count on.
Liverpool’s struggles between the sticks is even more irritating when they had a player on the books not long ago who they would now kill to have back.

Peter Gulacsi is one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga. He has been an ever-present in the rise of RB Leipzig since joining the club in 2015 and his form makes him one of German football’s best.
A no-nonsense goalkeeper, very good off his line and claiming catches as well as marshalling his back-line – if only Liverpool had a player like him.

In 2007 the Reds did sign Gulacsi. The Hungarian was snapped up, originally on loan, from MTK Budapest before going on to spend six years at Anfield as a youngster. He spent time out on loan at Hereford, Tranmere and Hull City but never featured for the first-team before heading to Red Bull Salzburg in 2013.
It was a move that led to his German switch and he is now playing the best football of his career. Liverpool fans will no doubt wish he was still at Anfield.
