Peter Crouch has written in The Daily Mail that Kevin De Bruyne would make Liverpool unstoppable, and has suggested that Chelsea central midfielder N’Golo Kante would fit right in the Reds’ team.
The former Liverpool striker has also said that he would bring back Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona, but only if the Brazil international attacking midfielder knew that he would be a squad player.
Crouch has added that it is unlikely that Liverpool will sign 28-year-old Belgium international midfielder De Bruyne – who earns £350,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac – from Premier League rivals Manchester City, but he has suggested Kante and Coutinho as potential signings.
Crouch wrote in The Daily Mail: “If Liverpool signed De Bruyne, they would win the Premier League, the Champions League and the Grand National next year. Maybe if we all throw £10 in, we will raise enough money to make it happen!
“The thing with Liverpool is that they really don’t need much. Michael Edwards, their sporting director who I knew from my time at Portsmouth, has overseen an incredible recruitment drive.
“Liverpool don’t just have good players – they have good characters too and the training ground is harmonious.
“They won’t stand still this summer and they will keep evolving. The front three is good enough to be left alone but maybe they need something in midfield.
“If it was me, maybe N’Golo Kante would fit right in. I’d even bring Philippe Coutinho back, so long as he knew he would be a squad player.”
Unlikely signings?
It is almost impossible that City will sell De Bruyne to Premier League title rivals Liverpool anytime soon.
Kante is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, and while Liverpool would be a better team with the France international in it, Chelsea are very unlikely to be even willing to entertain any offers from the Reds for the 29-year-old.
As for Coutinho, it is hard to see the Brazil international, who can also operate as a winger, willing to move back to Liverpool and not want to play regular first-team football.
