Peter Crouch is keen to stay at Stoke, rather than join Harry Redknapp at Birmingham City.

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has told The Mirror that he will be staying with the club rather than reuniting with former manager Peter Crouch at Birmingham City.

Crouch, 36, ended his season with the winning goal in Stoke’s 1-0 victory away at Southampton this afternoon, heading home a deep cross at the back post to haunt his former club.

The 6ft 7in striker finished the campaign with seven Premier League goals to his name in 27 appearances, though only 13 of those games came as a starter.

Crouch continues to show that he can score goals in the Premier League, and he even earned a new one-year contract with the club in January, extending his stay with the Potters until 2018.

A running joke since Harry Redknapp became Birmingham City manager is that Crouch will be moving to St. Andrews this summer, given that the pair have worked together at Portsmouth and Tottenham Hotspur in the past.

Now, Crouch has suggested that Redknapp – who kept Birmingham in the Championship and has penned a new contract with the Blues – did indeed attempt to lure him to the Midlands this summer.

Crouch attended Tottenham’s final game at White Hart Lane last weekend, and saw his former manager Redknapp there, before sharing the details of their conversation to The Mirror.

Crouch revealed that Redknapp was looking to bring a few of his former Tottenham players to Birmingham with him, but the striker told him that he was happy to stay with Stoke for a couple more years, even if his contract will end next summer.

“Harry Redknapp was there,” said Crouch. “I think he was trying to get a few of the boys to Birmingham City next season. I’m not sure how far he was prepared to go back. I told him I was happy where I was for a few more years,” he added.
