And even Crouch, who will be cheering on Tottenham on Tuesday admits that he expects City to get through to the semi-finals.
“I’ve been invited to White Hart Lane to watch Tottenham’s clash with Manchester City and that fixture always brings back special memories, given I scored a goal against City in 2010 to put Spurs back in the Champions League,” he said.
“City are favourites, of course, but it would be unwise for them to underestimate Tottenham.
“I just feel the second leg being in Manchester will prove decisive and I’d expect them to be in the last four against Juventus, who should beat Ajax.”
Tottenham got off to a good start in their new stadium, as they won their first match 2-0 against Crystal Palace.
Spurs fans created a great atmosphere for the fixture, and their team didn’t disappoint.
Tottenham were the dominant force as they picked up a comfortable three points, but City will surely prove to be a far tougher test.
City are yet to win the Champions League, but they are desperate to add the trophy to their collection as they look to do the quadruple this season.
