Peter Crouch has posted a six-word Tweet after watching Newcastle defeat Arsenal 2-0 – handing fourth place to Tottenham. The Toon were excellent in their last home game of the season, completely taking advantage of Arsenal.

Following Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Burnley thanks to a Harry Kane penalty, Arsenal had to beat Newcastle to re-establish their place in fourth. But they failed to even get a point; Newcastle dominated at St. James’ Park.

They took the lead when Joelinton was put through on the left flank and his cross was turned into his own net by Ben White – with Callum Wilson in close proximity. A second came from Bruno Guimaraes late on.

The loss for Arsenal pretty-much ends any chance of finishing fourth, with Spurs two points ahead going into the last games. Spurs only need a point against rock-bottom Norwich, while Arsenal take on Everton at home.

Ex-Tottenham striker Crouch reacted on Twitter to the result, which gives Spurs every chance of finishing in fourth place. He applauded Newcastle manager Eddie Howe for his work on Tyneside, and the 2-0 win.

While Arsenal would have jumped at the chance of finishing fifth at the start of the season. It is a damning result at this stage. The Gunners would have been dreaming of Champions League football, but they were awful.

Spurs, meanwhile, are looking less inconsistent every week they have Antonio Conte in the dugout. To finish fourth, after a poor start to the season, is testament to the arrival of the Italian gaffer at Tottenham.

Spurs fans will be in utter delirium at the result. They will also have been delighted to hear what the Newcastle fans were singing to the Arsenal players.
