Stoke City striker Peter Crouch had two different spells at Tottenham Hotspur.
Former United defender Neville was critical about Tottenham on Sky Sports on Monday evening.
The former England international, though, was complimentary about the current Spurs team, who are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title and are also playing in the Champions League.
Stoke striker Crouch, who was on the books of Tottenham from 1995 until 2000 and then from 2009 until 2011, has revealed what he agrees with Neville about Spurs.
Crouch wrote in The Daily Mail: “I am in agreement with Gary, however, on the fact that this Tottenham squad are well placed to maintain their progress. I said in my first column of the season that even without signing a player I expected them to finish in the top four and I will reiterate that now.
“The starting line-up is full of quality, the manager is outstanding and times have changed: they are not selling their best players to finance future deals.”
Progress
Tottenham have progressed nicely over the four or five years, with manager Mauricio Pochettino moulding a team in his image.
True, Champions League performances could have been better, but the fact that Spurs are regularly featuring in Europe’s premier club competition shows how far they have come.
Winning the Premier League title would be a great achievement, but it would still be progress if Spurs finish in the top four yet again this season.
