Peter Crouch has told BT Sport, during their live Champions League coverage, that he thought Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth was ‘tremendous’ last night.

Foyth was brought in to Tottenham’s starting line-up for the first time this season, and caught the eye at right-back as Spurs picked up a comfortable victory.

Tottenham were expected to have a big challenge against Red Star Belgrade, but they ended up winning the contest 4-0.

Despite being greeted with a hostile atmosphere, Tottenham cruised to success, as they dominated their Serbian opponents.

And Foyth’s performance at right-back caught the eye of Crouch.

“I thought there was some good performances. I thought Foyth did really well at right-back, he did a tremendous job,” Crouch said. “Ndombele did well and Kane, Son and Alli were different class.”

There was a feeling heading into the campaign that Foyth was set to become Tottenham’s first choice right-back, but injury has meant that Pochettino has not been able to pick him yet.

The Argentine international has had to be patient waiting for his chance, but he seized his opportunity last night.

Tottenham have struggled to find a consistent performer at right-back all season, and Foyth could now cement his place in Pochettino’s starting line-up if he continues to perform to the same standard he did last night.

Tottenham’s next match comes against Sheffield United on Saturday, when it remains to be seen whether Foyth will keep his spot.
