Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is reportedly on the verge of bringing his former England international teammate Jermain Defoe to Ibrox.
According to BBC Sport, Defoe will join Rangers on an 18-month loan deal from Premier League club Bournemouth in the January transfer window.
The 36-year-old is struggling for playing time at the Cherries at the moment, but the striker will be a brilliant addition to the Rangers team.
Alfredo Morelos is the number one striker for the Gers at the moment, but the Colombian youngster does need help and support.
Morelos also needs to be pushed, and Defoe is going to do just that once he completes his reported loan move from Bournemouth to Rangers.
Stoke City striker Peter Crouch played with Defoe at Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth, and the 37-year-old striker – who joined the Potters from Spurs in the summer of 2011 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £12 million – believes that the former West Ham United star will be a good signing for Rangers.

Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd, who had two spells at Ibrox club Rangers, has also given his take on Defoe’s reported move to Rangers.
Crouch wrote about Defoe in The Daily Mail: “He has made a great signing this week in the 18-month deal for Jermain Defoe and I can see him scoring a bucket-load in Scotland.
“If it all clicks, it will certainly keep Rangers in the hunt for the title. Jermain is a great lad, one of the best strike partners I played alongside, and he will make a tremendous impact at Ibrox.”
Boyd told Sky Sports about Defoe: “It’s definitely a blockbuster signing in terms of the name but Jermain Defoe has not played a lot of football this season.
“There has been a lot of big names that have come up here before and it’s not quite worked out but I’ve got a feeling that this one will work out.”
