Peter Crouch told Amazon Prime that Roberto Firmino is ‘definitely underestimated’ in the air for Liverpool.

Earlier this month, Firmino netted a quite brilliant bullet header in the last-minute during Liverpool’s win against Jose Mourinho’s side.

During his playing days, Crouch was known for his aerial prowess and how to dominate opponents in that regard.

And he feels someone like Firmino, whose place came ‘under threat’ when Diogo Jota arrived, has ‘very good’ ability with his head.

“He’s a player that grows in confidence when he gets goals,” said Crouch. “He has had his issues with goals over recent years.

“But when he gets one, he seems to get a few. I think his place became under threat a little bit when they signed Diogo Jota. He’s the one player I think with Salah and Mane, he compliments them so well.

“We all know about his work rate and what he gives to the team. Now he’s getting goals. I think he’s definitely underestimated in the air. I think aerially he’s very good.”

When Firmino gets talked about, a lot of the time, his technical ability with the ball, the first touch, linking up play, that clever flick around the corner is all that is talked about.

But the £29 millionplayer [BBC Sport] has shown that when his forward thinking fullbacks are putting in countless number of crosses into the box then he can head that ball.

There’s no doubt that heading the football is a dying art in the game because the modern game has become more tactical and technical.
