Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Alan Shearer has given Anthony Gordon plenty of praise.
The young Evertonian has been arguably the Toffees’ brightest spark this season. He’s been dazzling down the wing and despite being so young, he’s taken on a lot of responsibility at Goodison Park.
Shearer says that he’s personally been impressed by his fearless attitude and his character.
What’s been said?
Shearer had good things to say about Gordon.
“A young man that has been causing quite a bit of excitement is Anthony Gordon. Everton fans have really gotten behind the winger who has shown passion and plenty of ability in what has been a tough season for the Toffees.
“I’ve personally been impressed by his fearless attitude, he’s not afraid to get stuck in and he tries to make things happen going forward, putting plenty of crosses into the box.”
“What Gordon lacks in refinement he’s making up for in character, and that’s something Everton can feel excited about.”
Fearless
As Shearer says, Gordon has been fearless for Everton this season, and that’s why he’s been so good.
It would have been so easy for him to wilt under this pressure. After all, he’s playing for a massive club in a season where relegation is a real concern.
However, he’s not shied away from the challenge. He’s stepped up and shown his talents, even when his teammates haven’t been able to do the same.
If Everton are to stay up this season, they’ll owe a lot to Gordon.
