Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have been linked with Joao Pedro, but, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Watford forward is on his way to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Romano has reported on Twitter that Pedro has agreed personal terms with Brighton and will make the move to the Seagulls from Watford in the summer transfer window.

The journalist has said that Brighton have fought off competition from a number of clubs.

This development will come as a blow for Newcastle.

The Magpies, who could end up in the top four of the Premier League table this season, have been linked with Pedro.

Earlier this month, The Chronicle have reported that Newcastle want to sign Pedro from Watford in the summer transfer window and are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old Brazilian forward.

Newcastle United to miss out on Joao Pedro to Brighton and Hove Albion

Keeping tabs on follow Joao Pedro

In our view, Newcastle United should continue to keep tabs on Joao Pedro at Brighton and Hove Albion, if indeed the forward moves to the Seagulls in the summer transfer window.

Just because the 21-year-old is set to join Brighton does not mean that the Magpies could give up on signing him.

Newcastle are a club on the up who could become regulars in the UEFA Champions League in the coming years.

And a move to St. James’ Park in the future could be hugely appealing to the 21-year-old.

Joao Pedro has made 31 starts and four substitute appearances in the Championship for Watford this season.

The youngster has scored 11 goals and given four assists in those games.
