Tottenham Hotspur ace Oliver Skipp will push Antonio Conte to let him feature at home to Southampton on the opening day of the Premier League term after overcoming his injury.
That’s according to football.london, who note Skipp only suffered a minor knock to his foot in training last Friday. The issue prevented the midfielder from playing in Spurs’ pre-season friendly at Rangers on Saturday, as a brace by Harry Kane overturned the Gers’ advantage.

Skipp could now come back in for Tottenham’s final friendly with Jose Mourinho’s Roma in Israel this Friday. But Conte will likely look to play his return cautiously so that the 21-year-old is then in a condition to play against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints squad in some capacity.

Southampton travel to north London on August 6 to raise the curtain for the new Premier League season against Tottenham. The south coast side won on their last visit in February, with Mohamed Elyounoussi and Che Adams overturning Son Heung-Min’s go-ahead strike.
Tottenham ace Skipp determined to face Southampton after injury issues
Skipp is determined to play a role in the opening day affair, and will push Conte to let him feature. The England U21 gem laid claim to a leading role in the Italian’s plans last season, but now faces heightened competition after Yves Bissouma’s £25m, up to £35m, transfer.

Conte also had to make do without Skipp past January after the Tottenham ace suffered a season-ending pubis injury. He underwent surgery during April after suffering a setback in his rehabilitation, on the back of amassing 28 appearances in all competitions last season.
Skipp became a leading light of the Tottenham midfield before his injury issues began last term after returning from a successful loan spell with Norwich City. Former Canaries boss Daniel Farke even hailed the Welwyn Garden City native as ‘perfect’ while at Carrow Road.
His ball-winning expertise and ability to get Spurs moving up the pitch would prove to be a welcome addition last season. So, Skipp will no doubt be keen to put his latest injury issue in the past and regain his presence in the Tottenham midfield, starting with Southampton.
