PSV Eindhoven are considering trying to bring Patrick van Aanholt back to the club on a six-month loan deal from Crystal Palace, according to Dutch publication V-Bal.

Van Aanholt was a youth player at PSV before a 2007 move to Chelsea and aside from a loan with Vitesse Arnhem the full-back has since spent his entire career in England.

However, it is understood that the Eagles would not be willing to allow the 27-year-old to leave temporarily, but reduced playing time in recent games means that the Dutchman could well be tempted by a permanent Selhurst Park exit.

Which is why if Everton still hold an interest in Van Aanholt – as reported by ESPN in December – then now could be the perfect time to make a move for the defender.

Toffees manager Sam Allardyce knows the Netherlands international well having worked with him at both Palace and Sunderland and it is understood the 63-year-old is currently in the market for a left-back.

That is because with Leighton Baines having suffered injury problems this season, Cuco Martina has often had to play out of position in the role and more suitable competition for Baines is needed.
