Rangers caretaker boss Graeme Murty should give Ryan Hardie a chance.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Scottish Cup Quarter final match between Rangers and Hamilton Academical at Ibrox Stadium on March 4, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Graeme Murty has been placed in caretaker charge of Rangers after Pedro Caixinha was fired yesterday.

It is Murty’s second stint in temporary charge of the club as he steps up from his role as under-20s manager.

His temporary promotion could be good news for talented young striker Ryan Hardie, who has been in top form for the under-20s this season.

He scored a hat-trick against Brentford B earlier this month and netted a brace against AZ Alkmaar.

The Scotland under-21 international played 18 minutes as a substitute for the first team against Hearts back in August, but has been overlooked since.

Now is the perfect time for Hardie to be called back up by a manager who has been depending on his goals at under-20 level.

Hardie may not get a better chance to become a first team success than transitioning under a manager he is familiar with.

Rangers have a tricky encounter away to Hearts this weekend but they need inspiration from somewhere.

Putting Hardie into the first team could be exactly what the Gers need.
