Some Tottenham fans are delighted at reports by La Colina de Nervion that the club will move on to Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar if they cannot sign Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

Spurs face competition from both Manchester United and City in the race for Kounde this summer. The arrival of Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford has made the Red Devils’ pursuit more challenging due to the finances, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains keen on the Frenchman.

As do Tottenham, who insist on the arrival of Kounde in north London after appointing Nuno Espirito Santo as manager. They believe the 22-year-old would shore up the club’s defence, particularly should Toby Alderweireld leave amid claims by The Athletic that he wants out.

Spurs are proposing a €50m (£43m) deal for Kounde but the offer is far off the price Monchi set. The Sevilla chief will only sell the defender if a club triggers his €80m (£68.5m) release clause. And they are free to hold out for that sum with him under contract until 2024.

Knowing the difference in valuations, Tottenham chiefs are keeping tabs on Skriniar’s situation at Inter Milan. Reports by FC Inter News claim the Serie A champions want €50m (£43m) for the Serbian, who Spurs bid €35m (£30m) for last summer, per Calciomercato.

Tottenham fans react to interest in Skriniar as Kounde alternative

Kounde and Skriniar were both regulars for their respective sides last season, with the Sevilla ace starting 33 of 34 La Liga appearances, while his Milan counterpart opened 31 of his 32 outings in the Serie A.

Kounde also featured at this summer’s Euro 2020 with France, but some Tottenham fans would prefer Chairman Daniel Levy and Managing Director Fabio Paratici to favour Skriniar. That’s because they believe the 26-year-old is the better centre-back between them.

So, reports of Tottenham lining Skriniar up as their alternative for Kounde have delighted a few on social media. Here are some of the messages Spurs supporters have shared…
