Tottenham Hotspur are again being linked with a move for Riyad Mahrez.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to battle Arsenal for the £30million signature of Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez during the January transfer window.
Spurs picked up a narrow win at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon, beating Bournemouth 1-0 thanks to Christian Eriksen’s winning goal.
With Manchester United dropping points at Liverpool, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to keep up the pursuit of both United and Manchester City, but he may need January additions just to boost his squad.
Despite Erik Lamela’s imminent return and Moussa Sissoko’s improvement this season, Tottenham are being linked with a move for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez for when the January transfer window opens.
Mahrez, 26, was a relative unknown before joining Leicester almost four years ago, and he shot himself to stardom with 17 goals in Leicester historic title-winning campaign in the 2015-16 season.
The Algerian wasn’t quite as impressive last term, and whilst many expected him to leave Leicester over the summer, he remains with the Foxes – and has blown hot and cold so far this season.
Now, Mahrez is believed to be pushing for a January move away from the King Power Stadium, but Tottenham fans appear to be torn on whether that would be a good move or not.
Some believe that Mahrez is a quality player, perfect for Spurs right now, and he should choose Champions League football with Tottenham over a move to North London rivals Arsenal, who are only playing in the Europa League this season.
Others though aren’t convinced that Mahrez has the right attitude to play under Pochettino, and believe that he may still be a little overrated based on his displays in Leicester’s title-winning season, meaning any possible Spurs bid could divide fans.
