Speaking to Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson has been speaking about Eddie Nketiah and his current situation at Arsenal.
The English striker is entering the final few weeks of his contract, and he’s hit form at the perfect time – netting another brace this weekend against Leeds United.
The striker can leave on a Bosman this summer, and according to Lawrenson, he’s the perfect position as he’ll be awash with offers after his recent run of form.
What’s been said?
Lawrenson spoke about Nketiah.
“He’s in a perfect position isn’t he? The fact that he played for Leeds on loan was quite ironic, but he’s in a perfect position in that he can wait with his agent and wait for the deals to come in. The thing with Arsenal will be, yes they’ll want to keep him, but how much will it cost to keep him?
“Don’t forget they’ve had a nightmare with a couple of players who’ve ran their contract down and cleared off, so they’re looking after the pennies at Arsenal. It looks like Lacazette will go, so I think they should try to keep him, within reason,” Lawrenson said.

High stock
Nketiah probably couldn’t have hit form at a better time.
The 22-year-old’s stock has never been higher, and off the back of incredible performances against Leeds and Chelsea, he’ll have more suitors and command a higher wage when he does eventually agree terms, be that or Arsenal or another club.
Nketiah is in the perfect spot right now, there’ll be umpteen clubs in England and abroad who want him, and after his recent performances, his salary expectations have probably gone up a few thousand pounds.
Nketiah and his representatives need to make the most of being in such a privileged position.
