Andoni Iraola has been tipped to shine at Leeds after he emerged as the No.1 choice to replace Jesse Marsch.

What’s the story?

Well, Jon Prada – a journalist in Spain – backed the Rayo Vallecano boss to succeed at Elland Road if he does end up replacing the American in Yorkshire.

Speaking on the Marcador show, Prada said: “The Premier League would be the perfect ecosystem for Iraola. It would be a shame for La Liga but Leeds would get a coach who would get very good results.”

His comments come after Fabrizio Romano – one of the most reliable journalists around – claimed that Iraola is now the favourite to replace Marsch, with talks ongoing among those in the boardroom at Elland Road.

Carlos Corberan was an option, although he has now committed himself to West Brom by signing a new contract.

Iraola has become an admired figure at Elland Road having overseen a fantastic campaign with Rayo Vallecano so far this season, as the Spanish side sit fifth in La Liga and could achieve qualification for the Champions League.

Leeds must offer Iraola a contract

In our view, Leeds need to snap Iraola up before another high profile vacancy arises.

The Athletic believe the 40-year-old has many admirers in football, and if one of those clubs who like him were to sack their manager soon, Leeds may find it more difficult to hire the Spaniard.

By all accounts, Iraola seems to be a superb fit, and could build something special in Yorkshire.

He already boasts a strong relationship with Jack Harrison, and adopts similar tactics to Marcelo Bielsa having worked under the Argentine at Athletic Bilbao, so his style of play should appeal to the Leeds fans who adored El Loco.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Leeds hope to find a replacement for Marsch soon.
