It looks increasingly likely that Gini Wijnaldum will be leaving Liverpool in the summer.
The Netherlands is out of contract on Merseyside in June and although the Reds have offered him a new deal, Wijnaldum is yet to sign it.
As of now, it looks pretty probable that the 30-year-old will be leaving Liverpool for nothing and therefore it’s time that Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards start looking at long-term replacements.
And Bild reported earlier this month that the reigning Premier League champions are keeping a keen eye on Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria.
Zakaria faced Manchester City in last night’s 2-0 defeat by Pep Guardiola’s side in the Champions League.
And here’s how some Liverpool fans reacted to the 24-year-old Swiss star’s midfield performance:
Despite being 19 points behind City in the title race, Klopp won’t have any problem luring players to Anfield this summer.
Their problems this season boil down to a freak and unprecedented injury crisis but they’ll be back to their high-flying best next term and if the management want Zakaria, they shouldn’t have too much difficulty in prising him from Germany.
