Speaking on the OTB Football Podcast, Leeds United legend and pundit John Giles has been speaking about Liverpool and Curtis Jones.
The midfielder has been absolutely excellent in recent times. He put in a starring performance against Porto while he was also brilliant against Brentford at the weekend.
Despite being just 20 years old, Jones is making a real impact at Anfield, and Giles believes he could go on to emulate one of the Merseyside club’s all-time greats.

Giles believes that Jones has what it takes to emulate Graeme Souness at Liverpool.
“I think the go, go, go is fine, but in a match that is going against you, that’s where you need someone like Curtis Jones who can read the game. When Graeme Souness was there he was the perfect example for Liverpool. When you’re in that position you have to know when the game is going against you and slow it down. This kid is capable of that and Graeme Souness did it. Of the midfielders Liverpool have at the moment, I don’t think anyone else can do that,” Giles said.

Liverpool have had some world-class midfielders in recent years, but they’ve rarely had anyone like Graeme Souness since the legendary Scot departed.
Steven Gerrard was similar in his tenacity and talent and now it seems as though Jones could follow in his footsteps.
He’s only 20, so we don’t want to overhype him too much, but this week the youngster has shown that he’s the real deal.
