West Ham United should aim to sign Isco from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

West Ham's Dimitri Payet

Dimitri Payet may have left West Ham United under a cloud, but there can be no denial that he was a massive success for the club.

Even this season before his return to Marseille in the January transfer window when he was supposedly having a disappointing campaign, the France international attacking midfielder scored two goals and created 72 chances in 18 Premier League matches.

The Hammers may end up in the top 10 this season, but for the London club to break into the top six and have a successful 2017-18 campaign, they need a direct placement for Payet; and that player is Isco.

Wait a minute… Isco? That Isco? The Isco who has won two Champions League titles? The Isco who is playing for the biggest club in the world?

It may seem ridiculous to suggest that Isco could even consider West Ham or that the Hammers would be able to afford him, but recent speculation should give the London club hope.

A report in The Sun claims that Madrid are so desperate not to lose the Spain international attacking midfielder to bitter rivals Barcelona that they are willing to sell him for just £10.3 million in the summer transfer window.

A transfer fee of just £10.3m is very much within West Ham’s budget. While they would have to work very hard to convince the attacking midfielder to make the switch to the London Stadium, they could offer him a big wage – after all, according to The Daily Mail, the Hammers were paying Payet a weekly salary of £125,000.

If Madrid are willing to part company with Isco for just £10.5m, then it would not harm West Ham to at least make a move.
