Darren Ambrose has said on talkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy should sign James Ward-Prowse from Southampton if he became available for £50 million.
The former Crystal Palace midfielder believes that Ward-Prowse would be perfect for Southampton.
According to talkSPORT, Tottenham and West Ham United have had interest in the England international midfielder in the past.
Southampton would not stand in the way of the 28-year-old England international midfielder if he wanted to leave the club should they get relegated from the Premier League to the Championship at the end of the season.
The Saints could potentially ask for £50 million in transfer fees for Ward-Prowse, according to the report.
And, according to Ambrose, at that price, Tottenham should pounce.
James Ward-Prowse ‘perfect’ for Tottenham Hotspur
Ambrose said: “I’d take him at Spurs for £50m. I think he’s the perfect player that Spurs need that goes from defence to attack.
“And he can be that link to the play and I think you’ve got the players that will do the dirty work – the dog work – in terms of [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg and [Oliver] Skipp and players like that.
“I think he’s fantastic. Listen, you sign James Ward-Prowse, Harry Kane stays. That’s an extra ten goals a season for him with his deliveries.”

Summer bid for the midfielder
We believe that Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse would be a very good signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
The Englishman is at the top of his game at the age of 28 and would be able to make an immediate impact at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Even if Southampton stay in the Premier league, we suggest that Tottenham should make a bid.
The England international is.a very dynamic midfielder who can connect defence to attack and is brilliant with free kicks.
The Southampton star has scored as many 17 free-kick goals in 329 Premier League matches so far in his career.
