Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil has been excellent this season.
Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker believes that Mesut Ozil is benefiting from the strength of the club’s team cohesion and the numerous attacking options available to boss Arsene Wenger, Arsenal.com report.
Ozil has been in excellent form recently, and against Ludogorets in the Champions League in midweek he managed to net his first career hat-trick as the Gunners ran out 6-0 winners.
Wenger’s men are on course to progress to the next stage of the Champions League, while in the league they head in to this weekend’s clash with Middlesbrough having won their last six games in succession.
Ozil has played a key part in the club’s early-season success, and Mertesacker feels he is being benefited by their team cohesion and the quality of their offensive players.
“He’s been vital for us this season and he can make the difference at any second. Mesut is benefiting from the strength of our team cohesion,” Mertesacker told the club’s offical website.
“We want opposition teams to walk into the Emirates and know that they are facing a team that can score goals from all over the pitch, where everyone can help out.
“That’s been key recently – we have so many talents, so many skill sets and so many different ways of hurting teams and breaking them down.”
Ozil set records for the amount of Premier League assists he provided last season, and this term he is well on course to setting his personal best goals account with six strikes in eight matches in all competitions.
The German international has been superb this season, yet the same can be said of Alexis Sanchez and especially Theo Walcott who is currently in the goalscoring form of his life.
Arsenal are showing all the signs of a potential Premier League champion, but having been in great form before it is up to the players to maintain top fitness and the consistency to really succeed.
