Pepe Reina told Sergio Ramos to ‘cheer up brother’ after the Real Madrid captain was ruled out of both Champions League ties with Liverpool because of an injury, as posted by BBC Sport.
Ramos shared on Instagram that he has suffered a ‘muscle’ injury and, as a result, he won’t be available for the mouthwatering ties against Liverpool.
Whilst Ramos’ absence does boost Liverpool’s chances of progressing, it does take some gloss off the game because many were looking forward to the showdown between Ramos and Mohamed Salah.
Many Liverpool supporters still remember that incident between the duo in the 2018 Champions League final, which resulted in Salah suffering a shoulder injury following a challenge from the Madrid star.
But the trophy-laden defender has now picked up an injury of his own and will have to lead his troops from the sidelines.
This is the Instagram message Ramos sent to fans about his injury.
Madrid still possesses a threat without Ramos, especially with their underrated trio, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
But without Ramos, it does change the tide and you would probably think Jurgen Klopp’s men are now favourites.
Perhaps Liverpool are destined to reach Istanbul, after all?
