Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders has told the club’s official website what James Milner does in the dressing room before matches.

Lijnders has said that Milner, who can play as a midfielder, winger or full-back, repeats everything that manager Jurgen Klopp had said during the week or in meetings so that the players know fully well what to do during the match.

The Liverpool assistant boss told the club’s official website: “If you hear Jordan shouting in the game, you see Jordan coaching in the game.

“If you hear Millie before the game talking in the dressing room and repeating all the things we said already during the week, or the meeting of Jurgen.”

Big player for Liverpool

Milner has been on the books of Liverpool since 2015 and has established himself as a big player for the defending Premier League champions.

The former Leeds United and Aston Villa midfielder may not be guaranteed a place in Klopp’s starting lineup, but his importance at the club cannot be undermined.

Milner is a senior player in the dressing room and a model professional, and young(er) players will follow his lead and look to him for inspiration.

According to WhoScored, the former Newcastle United star has made two starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season, providing one assist in the process.

Milner has also made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League for the Merseyside club so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.
