Speaking on the Red Agenda Podcast, Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders has been speaking about the team’s constant efforts to improve, reserving special praise for Alisson Becker.
Lijnders was speaking on the podcast alongside the Reds’ goalkeeping coach John Achterburg, and he gave the coach credit for helping Alisson with his development.
The Brazilian is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now, and Lijnders believes that he keeps on getting better.

The two members of Jurgen Klopp’s coaching staff were talking about the squad’s development.
“It’s like what I said before, you always have to be on the front foot looking for solutions and looking ahead really,” Achterburg said.
“I think with Alisson for example, we round a big puzzle piece and with Virgil we found a big puzzle piece where the signings improve the team immediately, but staying at a level and improving is your job, and that’s what happens, and Ali, he’s always improving,” Lijnders said.
Getting better and better
The staggering thing about Klopp’s Liverpool is the consistent ability to make players better.
Virgil van Dijk went from being a Southampton player to being one of the greatest defenders of all-time, Mohamed Salah went from never hitting 20 league goals in a single season to breaking the Premier League scoring record, while someone like Diogo Jota has only improved since joining Liverpool.
Alisson is in the same mould, every season he looks more and more unbeatable, and it’s that drive and willingness to improve that makes him one of the best goalies on the planet.
