Pep Lijnders has lauded the qualities of Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott and stated that not many players have the skills he has in his locker.

The Reds, who are pushing for the Premier League title again this season and looking to defend their European Cup, will seemingly play a weakened team in the EFL Cup tonight.

Even though Arsenal will be their opponents, it seems as though a number of highly-rated talents, including Elliott will be given a shot to showcase their true worth.

Ahead of that tie, Liverpool assistant manager, Lijnders was full of praise for Elliott, who is still only 16-years-old.

“Harvey is a player who is a super player between the lines and can create,” Lijnders told the Liverpool Echo. “You don’t have many players like that. But we have to see the players consistently. He’s ready to play.

“We can’t forget that Harvey is still only 16 and we have to be careful like that. I see, from working with him, a really educated boy and one who is really passionate about the game.”

Elliott is yet to start a Premier League game for Liverpool since his move from Fulham in the summer, but despite a young age, he is seemingly already knocking on Jurgen Klopp’s door.

If he continues to go down the road he is currently going on then he may well end up being a serious bright spark and huge talent for the future.

But for now, he has the chance, against some stronger opponents in Arsenal, to show the world what he is all about.
