Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has told The Guardian that he does not subscribe to the idea that his side should be 10 points clear of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.
Guardiola has hit back at those who think that Manchester City should be far ahead of Liverpool and should win the Premier League title with ease.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has said that it is unrealistic to have such expectations.
City, who won the Premier League title last season, are a point clear of second-placed Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table at the moment.
Guardiola told The Guardian: “Dropping points against Palace can happen. People believe – I don’t know why – that because we’re Manchester City we have to be 10 points clear of Liverpool. I don’t buy it. I know how difficult it is. How we behaved against Palace and how we will behave against Southampton, that’s what counts.
“We don’t have to find explanations for something for which there is no explanation. One day a player puts the ball in the top corner from 20 yards, another day he misses the goal from five metres. Why? Because it’s football. Don’t find explanations for that.”

Liverpool v Manchester City Premier League title race
In our view, the Premier League title race between Liverpool and Manchester City will go down to the wire.
The Citizens were quite far ahead a few months ago, but the Reds have closed the gap.
Remarkably.
And now there is a very good chance that the title will be decided on the final day of the season.
City and Liverpool will face each other in the league next month, and that will be a pivotal game.
Now, we do not think that particular game will be decisive, as Liverpool and City could still drop points.
