Pep Guardiola has raved about reported Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara to Goal.com.

The Manchester City manager worked with Thiago when he was in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

According to Bild, Liverpool are interested in signing the Spain international central midfielder from Bayern in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported by the German publication that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has approved a move for the 29-year-old.

Guardiola told Goal.com regarding Thiago succeeding in England: “No doubt about it.

“A player who plays for Barcelona and Bayern Munich can play in the Premier League.

“Of course he can play. He’s an exceptional player, but I don’t know what he’s going to do.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, Thiago made 20 starts and four substitute appearances in the Bundesliga for Bayern this past season, scoring three goals in the process.

The 29-year-old has also made five starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League for the German giants this campaign, providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Liverpool?

Thiago is a very good and experienced central midfielder who has a winning mentality, and he would make Liverpool a better team.

The 29-year-old’s quality on the ball and ability to hold his own in the middle of the park would make the Reds better in midfield.
