Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has told the Manchester Evening News that he thinks Bernardo Silva is ‘back’ having shown improved form of late.

City return to Premier League action this evening, as they host Brighton and Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola’s men have been superb lately, winning five of their last seven Premier League games, conceding just two goals in that run.

City have also coasted into the EFL Cup final and beat Birmingham City 3-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday, with Guardiola surely having one eye on a domestic treble.

Improved defensive play has been huge in this run, but so has the return to form of Bernardo Silva, who has been outstanding in recent weeks.

The 26-year-old wasn’t quite at his best in the early stages of the season, but has thrived lately, and even scored twice against Birmingham.

Silva is a versatile and creative threat for Guardiola, and fans will be hoping that the £43million star can not only keep up this form, but also kick on for the rest of the season.

Guardiola has now praised the ‘intelligent’ Silva, claiming that he is now ‘back’ to his best and highlighted his importance to City moving forward.

“Bernardo is so intelligent, he can play everywhere,” said Guardiola. “He understands the game perfectly, he knows exactly what he has to do and where to play so there are no doubts. He’s back and I’m incredibly delighted for the two goals he scored and we need him.” he added.
