Arsenal target John Stones has decided to stay at Manchester City, according to The Sun.
It has been reported by the British tabloid that Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing Stones from Premier League rivals City in the summer transfer window.
West Ham United, Chelsea and Everton are also reported to have shown interest in the England international central defender.
However, the 26-year-old has decided to stay at City and fight for his place in manager Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup despite the signing of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth and the potential arrival of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, according to the report.
Sensible stance?
While Arsenal have quite a number of central defenders on their books, if the Gunners reportedly want him, then it is likely to be a regular in the first team.
Head coach Mikel Arteta needs to improve his defence that conceded 48 goals in 38 Premier League games in 2019-20.
Arteta worked with Stones when he was a coach at City and will know all about his attributes, and the England international should give serious thought to a switch to the Gunners.
