Manchester City are interested in signing RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo this summer.

That is according to a report on Gianluca Di Marzio‘s website.

It states that Pep Guardiola‘s dream is to bring Dani Olmo to the Etihad following Kevin De Bruyne’s injury.

The Spaniard will not come cheap, though, with Di Marzio’s site claiming that he could cost around £86m.

However, Olmo is also said to have a £47m release clause that City can activate next summer if they want to sign him for a lower price.

Pep Guardiola is a massive fan of Dani Olmo

City’s interest in Olmo comes as no surprise. He is a player who Guardiola clearly likes, with the former Barcelona boss having showered him with praise in the past.

He has described the 25-year-old as an “incredible player”, something that was easy to see in Leipzig’s 3-0 win against Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup.

On the day, Olmo netted all three goals to lead his side to the trophy. A hat-trick against the Bundesliga champions, even if it did not come in the most competitive of matches, is some feat.

Ultimately, Olmo could be a superb addition to City’s squad this summer, especially after De Bruyne’s injury. He could come in for him now and maybe be the long-term heir to the 32-year-old.

His absence will be a huge blow for City, who know they will not be in for an easy title race. Arsenal showed the Citizens last season that they are strong enough to go toe-to-toe with them and have got even stronger since then after bringing in the likes of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.

Olmo’s arrival, then, would be a massive boost, though it could end up being a very expensive one.
